years 80 the student Samantha Hughes is called the college to do babysitting in coincidence with a total eclipse of the moon. She does not take long to realize that their employers hiding a terrible secret: their aim is to use the girl in a satanic ritual.
Every lover of horror should be able to see this movie. And at a first viewing should follow a second and a third within a few days, because "The House Of The Devil" is, bluntly, a new sacred text of the horror genre. A sumptuous and perfect remake of a Bible for years that someone did not give a sprinkling, too busy to follow a logical Modern horror that did not allow a look at the past and the glorious 70s and 80s.
A couple of weeks ago (before viewing) wandering through the ether looking for feedback on the film I found very interesting advice from a guy who called this film geometric . With hindsight one can not give that right. Ti West (with a few young filmmaker behind films, including the hilarious sequel to "Cavin Fever") leaves nothing to chance and every little speck care: everything from the storyline in the staging, from the soundtrack to the style adopted is at the service of an idea of \u200b\u200bcinema which now took for dead and buried. Even the beautiful opening credits and the varied, wonderful posters (designed strictly all) offer sweet shivers of nostalgia!
The film can be divided into two parts: the first is the most 70s and minimal, dark and taut as a violin string (reminded me of the Polanski " Rosemary's Baby - Red Tape in New York ", and not only for their subject matter), waiting to explode in the second, much more gore and 80s. Many have found the final one slip style of the West, but are not in agreement. Certainly the first hour is over (and believe), but all those seasoned zoom of hemoglobin in the final half hour that reminded me from the Raimi of "House" and later, and the effect can only be nice.
A film that should be seen and loved from the first to the last minute. And we hope that the lesson that this guy gave all the queens of Hollywood videoclippare serve in some way.
