Abdone, Abdi Abdiel

These names share a common origin from the Hebrew root aubed (= servant) in Obadiah is added Yah, diminutive of Yahweh, the proper name of God, while Abdiel you join El, meaning God more generally. The overall significance of all these names is therefore servant of God.
On July 30, remembers sant'Abdon (sec. III-IV), Persian nobleman brought to Rome as slaves and condemned to martyrdom with St. Sennen, his companion in misfortune. November 19 instead honors sant'Abdìa , one of the minor prophets of the Bible.
